San Francisco, Calif. – In an inspiring display of community solidarity and swift action, the Resilience Runway event, spearheaded by California State Treasurer Fiona Ma, CPA and Catwalk for Charitable Causes (CCC), raised an impressive $10,000 to support the victims of the devastating Maui wildfire. The event, organized in just over a week's time, not only showcased the collective strength of the community but also highlighted the importance of coming together for a common cause.
The Resilience Runway event took place on August 27 at Fermentation Lab-Japantown, recently opened by Korean-American female entrepreneur Jeannie Kim, who donated the space. Attendees were treated to a remarkable evening of fashion, entertainment, and charitable giving. The event was emceed by Stephen Chun and Kylie Chang, who introduced herself as Miss Asian Global and Ambassador for CCC.
One of the standout moments of the evening was a powerful speech delivered by California State Treasurer Fiona Ma.

The highlight of the event was the runway show, featuring fashion designs of Marissa Tampoya and Sue Xu Wang that celebrated the theme of resilience. The event was choreographed and led by artist directors Monique Zhang, CCC President, Ethel Reddy, CCC Treasurer, and Joshua Bernstein, CCC Vice President, who each played pivotal roles in creating a captivating experience for attendees. Live performances, including a Maikaze Taiko drum performance and two captivating fashion shows titled "Jungle" and "Weaves," added an element of vibrancy to the evening. Models were adorned with stunning Hawaiian floral wreaths donated by Paul Robinson Floral Design.
One of the event's essential components was its fundraising efforts. The event raised a substantial
$10,000 in support of the victims of the recent Maui wildfire. Claire Balsley, Director of Disaster Assistance Programs from the organization SBP, spoke about the importance of the funds raised and the direct impact they would have on recovery operations.
"SBP is committed to aiding disaster recovery efforts, and the funds raised from the Resilience Runway event will significantly contribute to our ongoing operations," Balsley emphasized. "We extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who contributed to this noble cause."
Monique Zhang, one of the key organizers of the event, expressed her gratitude and excitement for the overwhelming response the event received.
