During her time as State Treasurer, she has restructured the state’s bond sales to ensure minority and women-owned small businesses have opportunities to work on state business and grow. In response to SB 816, Treasurer Ma developed a training program to help women interested in serving on corporate boards with the needed education, knowledge, and resources to successfully join and lead.

After being elected, Treasurer Ma immediately took steps to ensure her staff appropriately reflected the diverse community that calls California home. Throughout her career, Treasurer Ma has made minority and women-owned businesses a focal point and has created programs and resources to open doors that may have been previously out of reach or unavailable to minority and women-owned businesses. “Before the pandemic we had in-person conferences and seminars across the state. During the pandemic we have developed real-time resource guides. Guides are available at Treasurer.ca.gov for small businesses, individuals, non-profits, seniors, food access, and tax relief,” Treasurer Ma said during the discussion. Watch the entire discussion.
